NELSA is trying to increase our pool of referees so that we will have plenty of referees to cover games during the season. We recently held a class 9 referee training course and had a great turnout.
However, in order for us to keep enough referees to cover all of the games, we need to Stop Harassing Our Officials (“SHOO”). In the past, NELSA has had a hard time keeping officials and we have found that the number one reason that people stop officiating games is due to yelling and harassment from the parents and coaches. No one wants to put up with it. NELSA knows that everyone gets caught up in the excitement of the game. But, remember, before you say anything to the referee, you may be the reason that person stops officiating games. And, the next time your child goes out to the NELSA complex for a game, you will not have a referee. So, next time you get caught up in the excitement of a close match and you disgree with the referees decision, think about SHOO instead. If you do have a concern or issue, please tell your coach and he can talk to the referee assignor. Otherwise, please remember to SHOO. Thanks.
