The Fall coaches meeting will take place on Saturday, August 22nd at the ULM Fant-Ewing Coliseum on the lower level.  All U5-U8 coaches will meet at 8:30 am with uniform distribution taking place immediately following your meeting.  ALL U9 and older REC coaches will meet at 10:00 am with uniform distribution immediately following.  Coaches, please make sure you bring either a personal check for NELSA to hold to cover the cost of your uniforms OR your sponsor check.  Uniforms WILL NOT be released without one.  Sponsor forms can be found on this website under the FORMS link.  PLEASE NOTE THAT NELSA WILL NOT ALLOW ANY EARLY PICKUPS ON UNIFORMS THIS YEAR.  If you are unable to attend the coaches meeting or must leave early and will miss uniform distribution you will have to pick up your uniforms at a later date.  Please contact your league rep if you anticipate you will miss the meeting.

Evaluations are currently being held for all players entering the U7, U9 and U11Boys and Girls leagues, as well as, all new players (who did not play last year) to the U12 and U13 Boys and Girls leagues.  The players must attend one, but preferably both, of the evaluation times below.  Coaches will use these evaluations to draft their teams for the fall and spring seasons.  All other age groups will be placed on the same teams as the previous year:

U7 B&G at 5:30 pm / U9 B&G at 6:15 pm / U11-U13 B&G at 7:30 pm

Saturday, August 15 at Chennault Park CenturyLink Complex:

U7 B&G at 9:00 am / U9 B&G at 10:15 am / U11-U13 B&G at 11:30 am

Please make sure shin guards and cleats are worn and plenty of water is brought to drink along with a soccer ball.  Please arrive early enough to sign in for your evaluation time.  Registration tables will be set up near the concession stand.

Bruce Deaton, NELSA Assistant Director of Coaching, recently attended the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Coaching Academy held at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL and successfully earned the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. During the six days of the coaching academy, Deaton participated in classroom and fields sessions designed for the experienced coach working with the advanced player with an emphasis on training those players within a team concept designed to produce a successful environment.
 
The curriculum for the course included team organization and training, advanced methodology, analysis and understanding systems of play, a focus on tactics within thirds of the field, technical position overviews, match analysis and the psychological aspect of coaching.

Registration forms may continue to be picked up and returned to both H Mickel locations.  Online registration will also remain open through the 14th of August.

Fees are $75 for U8 and  younger and $100 for U9 and older and all D1 players

Coaching clinics for new and seasoned coaches will be held as follows:

U5 through U9 coaches:  Sunday, August 23 from 3 to 5 pm at the ULM game field

U10 and older coaches:  Sunday, August 30 from 3 to 5 pm at the ULM game field

There will be a coaches symposium for all ages to be held on September 12 at the ULM Coliseum from 3 pm until all questions are answered.  This will be designed with specific topics for multiple age groups, and there will be an open floor question and answer session at the end for all coaches to ask anything (designing sessions, player management, anything goes here!).
