Coaches and Parents,

We have the need to reschedule all Oct. 31 Saturday games to Sunday Nov.1st. Below are how games will be rescheduled:

FOR U5 – U6 BOYS AND GIRLS:
All Saturday 9 am games will be played at 1:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule
All Saturday 10 am games will be played at 2:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule
All Saturday 11 am games will be played at 3:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule
All Saturday 12 pm games will be played at 4:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule

FOR U7 – U13 BOYS AND GIRLS:
All Saturday 9 am games will be played at 1:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule
All Saturday 10:30 am games will be played at 2:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule
All Saturday 12 pm games will be played at 3:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule
All Saturday 1:30 pm games will be played at 4:30 pm Sunday on same fields as indicated on schedule

We will shorten the playing time of all U7-U13 games in order to maintain a one hour game time. For instance, if you normally play a 25 minute half you will need to shorten it to 20 minutes. Please make sure to start your games on time. Additionally, because of the change NELSA cannot guarantee the presence of referees on the U9 – U13 Boys and Girls games. We ask for everyone’s patience and understanding on this change as we are simply trying to get as many games in as we can without having to lengthen the season as it has already been lengthened out by two additional weekends already. PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE GAMES TAKE PRIORITY OVER ANY SCHEDULED MAKE-UP GAMES FOR SUNDAY. If you had scheduled a make-up game for Sunday, please reschedule it for a different time.

COACHES – PLEASE GET WITH YOUR OPPOSING COACH AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE GAME ON SUNDAY. We don’t want teams to get out there and find they have no one to play against. If you need to locate a number for the coach please contact your league rep. FOR GAMES REQUIRING REFEREES – PLEASE EMAIL NELSA at www.nelsa.org WITH ANY CANCELLATIONS SO THEY MAY NOTIFY THE REFEREE (if any are) SCHEDULED.

Due to the amount of rain received in the last 12 hours, the NELSA complex is closed today for all games and practices.

In order to makeup any games scheduled for today, please work with your opposing coach and league rep.

The Boys U-14 NELSA United team won their bracket this past weekend at the Cabosa Cup in Shreveport. During the four game weekend they scored 33 goals and gave up only 2 goals. In the Championship game they played a Shreveport team that had just the weekend before beaten them 4-0 in Alexandria. In the last five minutes of the game with NELSA United only holding a 1-0 lead, the Shreveport team was awarded a penalty kick. Jake Messer (GK) made a save to his right side to maintain the 1-0 lead and bring the Championship title to Monroe. The lone goal during the match was scored by Nick Whitaker in the first half.

The NELSA U12B Lightning team was the CABOSA Cup Champion while NELSA’s U11B Blitz team finished in 2nd place in the U12B bracket final. Both of these NELSA teams went 3-0 against Shreveport United and CABOSA teams before meeting in the final. Score, 4-1.

The NELSA U16G Knockouts won the U16G division, beating the Cabosa Strikers in back to back games on Sunday. The Knockouts went undefeated for the weekend.

Other great accomplishments:

· NELSA United U-16B – CABOSA Cup Champions

· FC NELSA U-17B – CABOSA Cup Finalists

The NELSA Ringers (a U18G Rec team) was a CABOSA Cup Champion this weekend. They also placed 2nd in their age division at the Alexandria Sweep the Swamp Tournament this season.

All clinics scheduled for the week of October 12-16 have been cancelled due to weather and field conditions.

Congratulations to the NELSA Bombers 96 for winning the U14G bracket at the Sweep the Swamp tournament in Alexandria this past weekend. The Bombers won in the finals in a thriller that went to penalty kicks. Down 0-1 after four kicks, Morgan McCoy blocked the last two opponents’ shots while Mallory Moore and Maya Turner made their shots for the Bombers to win, 2-1. And, congratulations to the NELSA Gators who finished second in the U12G bracket at the Sweep the Swamp tournament. The Gators played a great game in the finals only to lose by 1 goal to the defending state champions. Way to go teams!
