After an inaugural season the ULM women’s soccer program is pleased to again sponsor 3v3 soccer. It is one day of non-stop soccer! All games will be played on the ULM campus in a classic tournament format. Each team will play 3 games within their group to determine seeding & then the tournament begins.

Congratulations to all of the NELSA teams that competed in the Cajun Soccer Club’s Hub City Ford Lagniappe Tournament in Lafayette March 7 and 8.

The U11G Explosion team came out on top placing first in their bracket. What a great win for these girls!

The U12B Lightning team went to the finals placing second after a heartbreaking loss in the last minute of overtime as the CSC United put in one last goal to win over our boys 3-2.

Bruce Deaton, coach of the Ouachita Christian School soccer team, has earned the recognition of Girls Division III Coach of the Year. Congratulations to a top notch coach who really cares about developing soccer in northeast Louisiana! We are very lucky to have Bruce as NELSA’s Assistant Director of Coaching.

In similar news, two seniors from the Ouachita Christian School soccer team have been named to the Girls Division III All-State 2009-2010 First Team. Congratulations goes out to Abby Chowns and Gracie Thaxton. Way to go girls!

Due to field conditions, the complex will be closed Tuesday, March 2nd. The player clinic for all U11 and older REC players scheduled for Tuesday the 2nd has been cancelled.

NELSA invites all coaches to their Coaching Q&A meetings to be held this Spring. All meetings will be held at the ULM soccer office on Bon Aire Drive at 6:30 pm. These meeting times are for both REC and DIV 1 coaches. These are open to any topic or areas of concern and can be used to plan sessions, talk strategy, etc. Please find all dates attached.

2010 NELSA COACHING Q&A

NELSA has announced its Player Clinic Dates for the Spring 2010 season. January sessions will work on technical skills to scrimmaging for all ages. February sessions will begin with the age specific sessions. Please take advantage of this useful tool to improve your child’s soccer skills.

2010 SPRING PLAYER CLINIC DATES

A Coach’s meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, January 28th @ 6:30pm. This will be held at the ULM Football Stadium in the squad rooms. Please come to the front door of the stadium; there will be signs posted to lead you to the squad room.

Coaches & Player Clinic schedules will be distributed at this meeting. Also, NELSA is holding a Spring Fundraiser. Each coach will need to pick up their team’s fundraiser packet at this meeting. If you, as a coach, are unable to attend this meeting, please let us know in advance or possibly send your assistant to pick up your team packet.

The Fall coaches meeting will take place on Saturday, August 22nd at the ULM Fant-Ewing Coliseum on the lower level.  All U5-U8 coaches will meet at 8:30 am with uniform distribution taking place immediately following your meeting.  ALL U9 and older REC coaches will meet at 10:00 am with uniform distribution immediately following.  Coaches, please make sure you bring either a personal check for NELSA to hold to cover the cost of your uniforms OR your sponsor check.  Uniforms WILL NOT be released without one.  Sponsor forms can be found on this website under the FORMS link.  PLEASE NOTE THAT NELSA WILL NOT ALLOW ANY EARLY PICKUPS ON UNIFORMS THIS YEAR.  If you are unable to attend the coaches meeting or must leave early and will miss uniform distribution you will have to pick up your uniforms at a later date.  Please contact your league rep if you anticipate you will miss the meeting.
