Teams Compete and Win in Lafayette

Congratulations to all of the NELSA teams that competed in the Cajun Soccer Club’s Hub City Ford Lagniappe Tournament in Lafayette March 7 and 8.

The U11G Explosion team came out on top placing first in their bracket. What a great win for these girls!

The U12B Lightning team went to the finals placing second after a heartbreaking loss in the last minute of overtime as the CSC United put in one last goal to win over our boys 3-2.

Local Coach and Players Earn Recognition

Bruce Deaton, coach of the Ouachita Christian School soccer team, has earned the recognition of Girls Division III Coach of the Year. Congratulations to a top notch coach who really cares about developing soccer in northeast Louisiana! We are very lucky to have Bruce as NELSA’s Assistant Director of Coaching.

In similar news, two seniors from the Ouachita Christian School soccer team have been named to the Girls Division III All-State 2009-2010 First Team. Congratulations goes out to Abby Chowns and Gracie Thaxton. Way to go girls!

Springfest Tournament Scheduled

The Northeast Louisiana Soccer Association would like to invite you to join us for the CenturyLink Springfest soccer tournament to be held in Monroe, LA on March 20-21, 2010. The tournament is open to all recreational and division one soccer teams, both boys and girls, ages U-11 through U-19. There will also be a one day U9/U10 Jamboree for boys and girls teams.

Quarterfinal Match To Be Played Monday 2/15

The Ouachita Christian School Girls Soccer Team are playing their first-ever quarterfinal match in the state soccer playoffs at home today at 3 PM. Admission is just $5. Come out and support your Lady Eagles soccer team!

Some of our local high school soccer playoff games will take place this week:

Neville girls v. Morgan City – Wed at 4 PM at Neville

Ruston boys v. Parkway – Wed at 6 PM at Ruston Jr. High

Neville boys v. Holy Cross – Wed at 7 PM at Neville

So come out and support your local high school teams!!

One of NELSA’s Own to Sign National Letter of Intent

Cecilia Acosta, a member of the Nelsa Scream U-18G D1 team, will be signing her National Letter of Intent to play for the La Tech Soccer Team at Ruston High School on February 3rd at 9am. She will be the first local player to be recruited to Tech, a Division 1 University, and the NELSA family is very proud of her. This outstanding opportunity, driven by her talent and dedication, is well-deserved. We hope she is just the first in a long line of talented players to be recruited out of the Northeast Louisiana Soccer Association.

2010 NELSA Coaching Q&A Sessions

NELSA invites all coaches to their Coaching Q&A meetings to be held this Spring. All meetings will be held at the ULM soccer office on Bon Aire Drive at 6:30 pm. These meeting times are for both REC and DIV 1 coaches. These are open to any topic or areas of concern and can be used to plan sessions, talk strategy, etc. Please find all dates attached.
