Recreational Administrator Needed

NELSA is accepting applications for a Recreational Administrator. This is a paid part-time position. The candidate must possess good communication and computer skills, have a basic knowledge of soccer and be committed to seasonal work requirements. These seasonal requirements include Fall and Spring registration, evaluations, tournaments and various LSA dates. Please submit resumes to NELSA at PO Box 7476, Monroe, LA 71211 by 2/10/12.

Spring Coaches Meeting Scheduled

The spring Coaches meeting has been scheduled for February 2, 2012 at 6 pm at ULM’s Hemphill Hall, room 134. This is the computer/airways science building. If you are driving onto campus, turn off of 165 onto Northeast Drive (Taco Bell is on the corner) this will be your first university building on the right side. Whether you are a returning coach or a new coach, please make every effort to attend!

Spring Registration Has Now Closed

Registration is now closed for the spring season – please check back with us this summer for fall registration dates.

Parents and Coaches,

NELSA will open online/mail-in registration for spring play December 1, 2011 through January 15, 2012. Only online registration or paper forms by mail will be accepted. Please note there is a higher registration fee for paper registration due to additional time/work required to process form. Opening weekend for spring play is February 11, 2012.

U8 and younger player registration fees are $65.00 online and $85.00 for mail in paper forms (please select the appropriate online or paper link below to register)

U9 and older player registration fees are $75.00 online and $95.00 for mail in paper forms (please select the appropriate online or paper link below to register)

2011-2012 PLAYER REGISTRATION FORM. All paper forms are to be mailed to NELSA at PO Box 7476, Monroe, LA 71211.

Please note that if your player was registered to play with NELSA this fall YOU DO NOT NEED TO RE-REGISTER THEM FOR SPRING. All fall players automatically move into spring play without additional fees with the same team they played on during the Fall ‘11 season.

Entry Level Referee Clinic Scheduled

Parents and Coaches,

Fall soccer registration will be from June 1 through August 20. The Fall season will start on Saturday, September 24th and last until November 12th. Your child must have turned 4 before July 31, 2011 in order to play this spring. Registration forms will be available at H Mickel Sporting Goods on Forsythe Avenue on June 1. You may also download the form by clicking here 2011-2012 Reg Form and then drop it into the mail to NELSA at PO Box 7476, Monroe, LA 71211 or taking it directly to H Mickel Sporting Goods.

Online registration for recreation, as well as, LCSL (previously referred to as Division 1) is available, for a small additional fee, by following the above links. Please note that LSA has instructed us to use a new online registrar this year. Please follow the directions carefully. If you experience any issues while registering your child(ren) please do not hesitate to contact us at soccer@nelsa.org. While we are not experts on the system yet we will try our best to resolve your issue. Please note that you must create a FAMILY account if you are registering more than one player in your family. Also, if you have one child playing Competitive (LCSL) and one playing REC the multiple discount will not be figured. You will need to email us so that we may refigure your totals due.

The cost of registration for U5-U8 leagues is $100, which includes both seasons, fall and spring.

The cost of registration for U9 and older leagues, including Division One is $120, which includes both seasons, fall & spring.

The coaches meeting will be on Thursday, September 8th. Coaches please note that you will have to complete your Risk Management Disclosure and have your sponsor check monies in hand before you can receive your team uniforms. Please contact Shelley Seshagiri if you are not able to locate a sponsor before the coaches meeting.

Area Teams Rank High In State Tournament

Four of the NELSA Division One Teams competed at the highest level this past month competing for their State titles in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Cup. The NELSA Bombers (U16G) and NELSA United (U15B) were overcome in the semi-finals. The NELSA Explosion (U12G) and the NELSA Nitro (U14G) were Finalists in their division competing against some of the best Southern teams the state of Louisiana has to offer. The Explosion lost 2-1 against last year’s title holder, the Soc-A-Delics and the Nitro lost 1-0 after double overtime and a penalty shootout to determine the winner of their game. Way to go teams! If you see these players/teams/parents, please make sure to stop and congratulate them on their achievements this year! NELSA is so proud of them all!
