The U14G NELSA Nitro Division One soccer team recently traveled to Metairie to compete in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Cup. The Nitro played for District advancement in Alexandria before heading to Metairie. Ultimately placing second in the State, the Nitro played three games over the course of the weekend with each game ending in overtime. The final game ended in a heartbreaking loss with penalty kicks deciding the winner for the State title. The Nitro team lost 1-0 to the Mandeville Soccer Club. Monroe, LA should be proud of the accomplishment of the Northeast LA Soccer Association and the competitive teams they produce each year; for Northeast LA to place their teams at the State level shows incredible athleticism from the local players.
