Update regarding COVID-19

To all NELSA Members:

Updated - 3/17/2020:

Parents and Coaches,

Due to Gov. Edwards decision to close schools and crowds over 50 people, The NELSA Spring season is being postponed. Please be aware, we are not canceling the season, just postponing it. Please understand NELSA intends on finishing the season. When school is back we plan to resume the season. We will look to modify schedules to get as many games during the Spring season. We remain committed to our protecting our players, parents, and coaches' safety. We will monitor the situation and notify you of any changes.

----------

Parents and Coaches,

I regret to inform you based upon current concerns regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Due to the fact you can spread the illness before showing symptoms. NELSA will be closing the complex this weekend. No games and/or practices can be held at the complex until further notice. We will reevaluate the situation next week. Please be patient as we deal with this ever changing situation the best we can. The safety of our players, parents, and coaches is our top priority.

The CDC always recommends the following preventative actions to help prevent the spread of any respiratory diseases including:

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

 · Stay home when you are sick.

· Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

· Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

 · Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.

o CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.

o Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

o If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Thanks

Doug Smth

NELSA Board President

In consideration of the growing threat of COVID-19 – the disease caused by the new coronavirus – US Club Soccer encourages all members and related personnel to take proper precautions. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) is a valuable resource of the latest information.

Please monitor this CDC web page, which has important information about how coronavirus spreads, its symptoms, FAQs, global locations with COVID-19, travel advisories and more. The CDC recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, such as:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

US Club Soccer will continue to monitor the situation. Leagues and clubs are welcome to implement further precautions, such as eliminating handshakes, communal water stations, etc.
