Recreational U4-U15
Purpose
The Recreation program is for beginning soccer players or kids who want to play without the pressure of winning. The Recreation program provides balanced, competitive play while developing players, coaches, and referees without the additional costs and commitment of time required by highly competitive leagues. There is no travel out of town. Players are guaranteed playing time during the season. The focus is on teaching players the fundamental skills of the game. Families may choose to participate in either the spring seasons or both fall and spring. The fall season generally begins shortly after Labor Day, and the spring season generally begins near the end of February. Teams usually play 8 games over the course of seven to eight weeks. Practices are limited to no more than twice a week at no more than an hour at a time. Practices generally begin two weeks before the first game.
We provide recreational games from U4 - U13.
Teams
Teams will be formed to provide the opportunity for each player to play and have fun while also growing and developing.
Each team will have a volunteer coach and will need parents to volunteer to help manage and coach the team when necessary.
Games
All games will be played at the NELSA Guerriero and Guerriero Soccer Complex.Â

Purpose
NELSA four-year-old program is designed on movement education with and without the ball, with a focus on game introduction.
The program will spend the majority of the time with one player and the ball. The focus is on individual attention and age-appropriate games and activities.
Overview
Coaching children under five years of age presents some additional challenges due to their immaturity, short attention span, and less developed muscles. The objective should be for all of the kids to have fun, make friends, and learn some soccer skills that will help them should they decide to continue playing. The goal is to introduce them to basic concepts like dribbling and kicking and make it enough fun that they want to keep playing as their bodies and minds mature.Â
Practices
Practices will always be fun. Players will play "games" that introduce skills not "drills".
Coaches will maximize touches on the ball per player in practice and avoid lines so the players won't have to wait for their turn to play.
There will be a minimal lecture to allow for development and more soccer.
The main focus will be on improving an individual's skills and having fun. Skills such as dribbling, trapping the ball, shielding the ball, shooting, and getting around an opponent.Â
